About

Where did you learn to skate?

-Brye Park, Bloomington, MN

Did you play hockey growing up?

-Yes

What other sports did you play growing up?

-Baseball, Soccer, Speedskating, wrestling, roller hockey, Box Hockey, Mountain Biking, Hockey and scrapping with three brothers.

If you could do anything non-athletic in your spare time, what is it?

-Trying to turn my 4 kids into something respectable!

Describe going down an IceCross track for the first time:

-In the very beginning it was surprising how dynamic ice is that is not flat is, it doesn’t take long to build momentum and speed.  Actually skating a track, I don’t care if it’s your first time or your 100th time, is always a great time!  Like nothing you’ve ever done before.

What first got you interested in the sport?
-The story goes- I read an article in the Star Tribune that had a title of “You don’t have to be crazy, but it might help”.  Naturally I read it, and immediately signed up for a tryout in Duluth.  I made it into the first year in St. Paul that tryout, and have never looked back!

If there is one piece of advice that you could offer new riders, what would it be?
-The sport is far more accessible than you would think.  There are opportunities every year to try it both locally and abroad.  If you think you are cut out for it, get out there and rip!

Who is your favorite sports athlete?

-Cam Naasz
