Did you play hockey growing up?
-I started playing hockey when I was five, and still play at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota on the D2 ACHA team.
What other sports did you play growing up?
-I played baseball when I was growing up, and played soccer and lacrosse during high school.
If you could do anything non-athletic in your spare time, what is it?
-Managing and running the ACHA hockey team at Saint Mary’s.
Describe going down an IceCross track for the first time:
-Frightening. My first trip down the track was in 2015 and it was terrifying at first. Being in the air on skates is something that is not like any other experience, and something you have to try to understand. After making it down the track for the first time, you can’t get enough though and want to get right back to the top to do it all over again.
What first got you interested in the sport?
-I got interested in the sport by seeing highlight videos online. I remembered watching the sport on NBC as I was growing up, and saw the opportunity one day to signup for the on-ice tryouts and took a chance!
If there is one piece of advice that you could offer new riders, what would it be?
-Don’t be afraid to give it a shot! It may look terrifying at first, but you won’t regret going down the track once you’re at the bottom. It’s the thrill of a lifetime, and it only gets better overtime.
